5.30 AM

My alarm goes off and I quickly get ready for the gym.

6.30 AM

I get ready for the day by making sure I have a healthy packed lunch, heaps of snacks and a book for the long commute.

7.30 AM

I start my commute into the office. It has been so fun getting back into the routine of going into the office after all of the COVID lockdowns.

8.30 AM

Most people are in the office today and we chat about what we have on for the day whilst making our morning teas/coffees. I check in with the Associate, Special Counsel and Principal of my team to see if they have any work they would like me to complete for the day. I get out my diary and make a detailed to-do list of all of the tasks I need to get done that day in order of importance.

10.00 AM

Today, I have been invited to attend a client meeting. Our clients are looking for assistance with their estate planning. I am required to take detailed notes of the principal's recommendations and the client's wishes for their wills and power of attorney documents.

11.00 AM

After the meeting has concluded, I make my second English breakfast tea for the day, accompanied by some Arnott's biscuits. I draft a costs agreement and initial letter of recommendations to the client. I also review any previous estate planning documents and assets the client has.

12.30 PM

I always make sure that I leave the office for lunch. Today, I head out for lunch in the MLC Food court with a few of the members in my team. Usually I pack my lunch, but occasionally I treat myself to a Fishbowl or Pasta. We sit with our lunches on the stairs in front of the MLC Building for some sun to recharge for the afternoon.

2.00 PM

The principal of my team has asked me to assist a client with applying for an exemption for her land tax. I make a call to Revenue NSW and draft an email to the client letting her know the progress I have made that day. I always make sure I have a piece of fruit from the kitchen to get me through the afternoon.

4.00 PM

I go through my emails for the day, making sure I haven't missed any tasks. Special Counsel has asked me to draft estate planning documents for one of our clients. I carefully draft the Will, Power of Attorney, Enduring Guardian and Memorandum of Wishes documents and print them for the Special Counsel to review.

6.00 PM

Most days I finish work around 5.30 or 6.00pm. Tonight the graduates are heading out for a dinner at Fratelli Fresh, to celebrate our first 4 weeks at McCabes.

8.30 PM

I head home for the night and watch some Ozark on Netflix before heading to bed at 10pm so that I am ready for the exciting day to come tomorrow.
